EC Requires Safe Internet For Children

Safe Internet For Children

The European Commission (EC) offered a new service to filter websites. The ‘ecosystem’ is targeted on children’s protection from abusive and inappropriate information. This offer follows the Brussels proposals to defend children from the Internet threats.

EC was going to develop a special authentication system that would be able to determine user’s age and to limit the sites this user can download.

According to Cecilia Malmstrom, European Commissioner for Home Affairs modern children use the Internet easily and that is why they are in danger to meet a site with offensive content. She notes that it is important for parents parents to think over the ways to protect their children.

Of course, there are some ways to block pornosites and the sites with insulting content on your computer, but the mobile Internet and applications are remained unprotected.

Another problem is the lack of sites for children. EC is planning to create special sites that will provide children with interesting and harmless activities. The strategy is aimed to make Internet using interesting without visiting forbidden sites.

The next step made towards the safe Internet environment will be school lessons that will inform children of possible dangers in the Internet and teach them how to avoid them.

EC is sure that all these steps towards safe Internet for children must be accompanied by the special system creation. This system should identify the age of the user and control his/her actions. Its aim is to prevent the child from using unacceptable sites.
