Just a Few Browser Tips

Browsers

Almost every user has come across a webpage full of nasty animated GIFs. It’s an extremely annoying stuff to see on the web. In fact, it’s possible to suspend them in Firefox by simply pressing the Escape key. Moreover, this trick also works in Safari, though one needs to hold the Escape key down for keeping them from emerging again.

However, Safari’s Downloads pop-up can reveal a number of interesting features. For instance, through double-clicking on a file’s icon a user can copy a file’s URL by choosing this stuff in the pop-up and clicking on Command-C. Moreover there’s a possibility of choosing a downloaded file right in the Downloads pop-up window. Having selected it, a user can drag it to the required folder or anywhere else.

Those folks that really lack hard drive space should check their copy of Google Chrome. The matter is that Hints reader may take up to 1.2GB on the hard drive, so the app appears to be too hungry. This problem can be successfully tackled via the app’s bundle. So it only requires right-clicking and selecting Show Package Contents. Attentive folks might have already spotted multiple old versions of the application and they proved to be almost identical. Advanced users get rid of them and as the result they have only 113MB on their hard drive.

Aside from that each time Google Chrome receives automatic updates it preserves at least two of the recent versions. The older ones may add approximately 225MB and they need to be terminated to save more space. If users forget about deleting older versions they may collect up to 2.2GB of this garbage.
