Lytro Announces Social Camera Revolution

Lytro new camera is stated to be a device that will change your perception about photography. This camera has many revolutionary new features including its ability to change the focus of your picture after you’ve actually taken it. The technology has been dubbed a living photo and accomplishes its effect by capturing the entire scale of light in its field of view, including colours, intensity and direction of light rays. While the technology seems to be complex, Lytro ensures this new camera is simple in order to guarantee its popularity even among casual photographers. The camera has a lot of common with creative apps similar to Instagram, but it is quiet different to multi-functional DSLR cameras produced by such companies as Canon and Nikon.

The differences between two currently available models of Lytro are in their storages, colours and prices. While the shutter speed and ISO settings are automatically handled, you still need some decent technique to take the high quality photo because of the lack of flash. The refocusing ability is also mentioned to be heavily reliant on taking pictures that are heavily zoomed, a requirement that raises question about the term of the practical use of the product. Currently file transfers are also limited to Mac platforms. While the company states that compatibility with Adobe and PC based products are under way, the current limitation can become a cause of dramatic plunge of new camera sales. It has been noted that the success of Lytro is placed heavily in whether it succeeds as a social picture sharing device for social websites like Facebook rather than a professional utility or not. The notion seems to be risky as a lot of options for sharing photos already exist, and the lack of professional attributes may make its style of photos uninteresting to look at.
